Moves Afoot are a
barn dance band based in Brighton. We have been performing
at barn dances in Sussex and the surrounding area
for over 20 years. A barn dance (sometimes also known
as a ceilidh or folk dance) will make any social
gathering a truly memorable occasion by getting your
guests to participate, interact and thoroughly enjoy
themselves.
Sean, our caller, has a wide repertoire
of dances that are simple but fun. He provides clear
instructions for the dancing and the emphasis
is on having a great time, rather than "doing
it right".
Jigs,
reels, polkas and hornpipes taken from the English,
Irish, Scottish and American folk traditions provide
the band's standard fare. To make this more appealing
to modern ears these tunes are presented in a "folk
rock" style, with some funk and reggae rhythms thrown
in for good measure.
If you are thinking of holding
a barn dance please take the time to read our "Questions
Answered" section. You might also like

previous happy customers, or to listen to snippets

Finally get in touch - you'll find our details
on the Contacts page.
